Undercover Saints - Fuck Or Be Fucked

We end the month with some delightfully sloppy punk rock from Pittsburgh. Another fantastic drinking album. And "you know I can't have fun unless I'm drunk"!

Filthy Cheaters - Sizzle And Chunk

We got scuzzy, no frills punk rock 'n' roll for you today. Courtesy of the Filthy Cheaters from Minneapolis. And what do they say about themselves?

The Filthy Cheaters are a bunch of grouchy old fuckers who like to complain about the size of their prostates and start off every sentence with "back in my day...".

A fine EP made all the better by the covers at the end.

The Chargers - Drinkin', Druggin' And Whorin'

I pulled this one from the fun and entertaining Melonville Hardcore blog. He didn't know alot about the release, therefore I know even less. But with a title like this you know the good doctor just had to give it a try. I do know it really has a late 80's crossover feel. Maybe leaning a little more towards the metal camp. They definitely worshiped at the altar of Lemmy.

69 Charger - From Ideal Son To Low-Life Scum - The First Few Years

Yes, Yes, Yes! 69 Charger describes themselves as a Drunken Rock & Roll Blur. I'll take that. Starting in Eindhoven (technically in 1999, shhh!), they rocked out for most of the aughts. An excellent shot of adrenaline.

Hammered Grunts - Self-Titled

Staying in Portland an extra day we spend a little time with the Hammered Grunts. Throwback punks with a shit-ton of attitude.

Pornstore Janitor - Porn Again

And you thought YOU had a bad job. Pornstore Janitor hailed from the sleazy underbelly of Portland, OR. Great, quick punk rock. Think Dwarves with a tad more crystal meth. When asked in an interview what the band is all about they replied:

We play a no-bullshit, fuck you in the face brand of demolition punk rock n’ roll. Imagine the mid-80’s just before American punk rock went astray. We’re in that vein,we certainly aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel, but I’ll be damned if we can’t make it spin a little harder.

Sadly, they seem to have come and gone all too quickly.

Dead Fucks - Everyone Is Dead!

This quick 4 song EP sounds like it came straight from 1983 or 84. Right down to the low production. I know absolutely nothing about the band so we'll just leave it at that.

Biggy Stardust And His Wretched Hive - Never Met A Guitar I Didn't Wanna Destroy

I was lucky enough to discover these rotten bastards when they played ANTiSEEN's 30th Pre-Party. And I just had to buy their stuff. Scummy punk/hardcore from the bad neighborhoods of Charlotte, North Carolina. Play drunk!

The Fallen - No More Control 7"

In the mood for some female-fronted hardcore madness from Kentucky? Well climb aboard! These guys (and gal) rip the shit out of this 7". Damned impressive hardcore... in size six boots. Does anyone out there have any more by them? This is all I've heard.

Iron Boots - Weight Of The World 7"

Unless I'm remembering wrong Iron boots is one of the countless modern hardcore bands I discovered on F.P.F.T.P. What a fantastic source for punk and hardcore, both old and new. Anyway, these blokes pumped out some serious old school street punk from Virginia Beach. Sounds like a blast from the past.

Haymaker - Self-Titled

Haymaker started in Ontario Canada around the turn of the century and made quite alot of trouble right away. Apparently they've been banned from most places around their home town, which is always a good sign. I read somewhere that despite the insane fury of the music their lyrics are quite intelligent. Well, unfortunately these old ears can neither confirm nor deny that statement. I can however confirm this debut full length packs quite a wallop! Haymaker is very fitting!

The Best Laid Plans...

OK, maybe you've noticed, maybe you haven't. Things have slowed down a bit around here. I'm not posting quite as often. I'm not reposting requests much at all. And I'm certainly not replying to comments and emails nearly enough. Damn this busy reality of mine! Anyway, I've decided to attempt to rectify that in the coming weeks. Well, I'm probably not going to post more than 3 or 4 times a week, but I am going to try to repost as well as reply to all the fine folks that actually care to drop a comment or email. Please, keep on keeping on. I'll come around.

Holley 750 - Death Machine

Holley 750, from Denver, came along towards the end of the aughts with a rockin' hardcore assault. Pay attention, cuz this one goes by in a flash.

Flat Tires - Payin' Dues... Again

Yee Haw!! Time to kick up some dust today, y'all! The Flat Tires are four good ol' boys from North Carolina that started churning out some down home southern punk long about 2005. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked this kinda stuff back in the day, but I love it now.

Bricktop - Born To Brawl

These mofo's from Tucson, Arizona have the old school street punk thing down. Drinkin' and fightin'. This is their debut release, from 2008.

The Cheats - Life's Short

The Cheats, from Steel City, USA deliver a healthy dose of what I believe is nowadays called Punk 'N' Roll. Whatever you call it, you're guaranteed a good time. Here's what they have to say about themselves:

Born in the rusty ashes of the once blue collar steel town of Pittsburgh, PA in 2001, The Cheats are pure rock n’ roll, tailor-made for beer baths, shout-alongs and the inevitable purge after a long, hard night of drinking. Guitar driven, Marshall stack thumping, good time Punk Rock n’ Ruckus at its best.

The Strap-Ons - Geeking Dream

From the gutters of Norfolk, Virginia comes the Strap-Ons. OK, so technically the Strap-Ons started in the 90's with a different name. And that's a technicality I'm overlooking. Snotty, rude, wonderful scum punk rock 'n' roll.

Nunstalker - Defrocked

Well it's Sunday, so that must means it's time for some old fashioned blasphemy! This Vancouver band came and went rather quickly in the early aughts. A bit more "listener-friendly" than I'd expect from a band named Nunstalker. Still, a good blast of modern punk/hardcore.

Hollywood Hate - Product Of Our Environment

Another band made up from remnants of other bands is Southern California's Hollywood Hate. Formed around the turn of the century and lingering still today. I don't know about you, but this shit really takes me back to the mid 80's. Great throwback hardcore with a modern feel.

Mr. Green All Stars - Seeing Is Believing

As we throw out the old calendars for new ones we've chosen to celebrate bands of the new millennium. To the best of my limited knowledge all January bands were born and maybe even died in the wild and wonderful aughts.

We start with a punk rock super group, of sorts. But don't just take my word for it. Read what this press release has to say about it:

"Never before have these legendary musicians ever shared the stage at the same time so fans will really be in for a big treat. Get ready for the funky punk/ metal lines of bass guitarist Norwood Fisher of FISHBONE? For the snarling blasts of thrash metal and virtuoso guitar leads provided by Rocky George of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES? Pounding punk rock metal rhythms from D.H. Peligro of the DEAD KENNEDYS and last but certainly not least, the jaw-dropping stage performance and vocal range from H.R. of the BAD BRAINS as well as vocalist Hawaiian Lyon from HUMAN RIGHTS and BIG MOUNTAIN."

Enjoy their ripping first (and I believe ONLY) release from 2006.
