Peter & The Test Tube Babies - Banned From The Pubs 7"

And finally we have Peter & The T.T.B.'s. This is their debut 7". A favorite.

We've got a couple 7"s to round out the month. Today it's the Angelic Upstarts 1979 single. Classic.

Combat 84 - Complete Collection

Now here's some mean skinhead oi! Often labelled racist and grouped with RAC bands. If true, the sentiment doesn't come through i their lyrics. What does come through is some tough punk rock.

Runnin' Riot - Reclaim The Streets

Belfast blokes Runnin' Riot carried their classic Oi! sound throughout the late 90's and into the 21st century. Their motto (We're Here For A Good Time, Not A Long Time) sadly came true last year when their singer Colin Mcquillan died on tour. The end of a great band.

Cockney Rejects - The Power & The Glory

Good stuff from the East End today. Originally released in 1983.

Vice Squad - The Complete Punk Singles Collection

Ladies and Gentlemen, the lovely and talented Beki Bondage. Again, not sure if they qualify as Oi! In fact, not really sure how well my Oi!gust plan went, looking back. Anyway, here's another good Singles collection.

Action Pact - The Punk Singles Collection

I don't know what it is about this band, but I dig 'em. And yes, the question arises again: Is it Oi!, or just punk? Who cares, really?

Red Alert - We've Got The Power

Ok, let's get back to the early 80's where we belong. This is classic U.K. Oi!

V/A - Pop Oi! + Oi! Oi! Oi!

Another compilation today. This time it's actually a compilation of compilations, originally posted recently by my ol' pal Viacomclosedmedown over at Down Underground. This 1993 CD combines the Pop Oi! LP from 1989 and the Oi! Oi! Oi! LP from 1990. Mostly U.K. Mostly awesome!

V/A - Streetpunk '99 - First Annual Midwest Oi Fest Compilation

Unfortunately I know nothing about the actual event. But the soundtrack is pretty damned impressive. 16 bands having what I'm sure was a raucous party. Think there were any fights?

Blanks 77 - Killer Blanks

We've got another well respected New Jersey Oi! band for you today. Blanks 77 originally started in 1990 and had a pretty good initial run. This is their fantastic second full length, from 1995.

The Wretched Ones - Nice Guys Finish Last 7"

Again with the street punk/Oi! debate we have New Jersey's dearly departed Wretched Ones. This is a 7" that never made it on my massive post some time ago. Enjoy!

Adolf & The Piss Artists - Zero Hour

As the Anti-Heros began to fade the Atlanta Oi! torch was briefly passed to these guys. Don't let the name scare you, these guys don't sing about racism. Got your attention though, didn't it? Give it a chance, they're worth it.

Anti-Heros - Underneath The Underground

Of course America had their share of Oi! One of the best "American Oi!" bands in my opinion is the late great Anti-Heros, from Atlanta. Always loved this band. This is their last studio release, from 1999.

Doc-Oi - This Is Straight Hate 7"

Japanese punk bands also embraced Oi! I know nothing about this band. But what I do know is that this 1985 7" is well worth a listen.

Klasse Kriminale - The History Of... Part. 1 (The Collected Highs 1985 - 1993)

Oi! certainly wasn't exclusive to the British Isles. For example, here's Italy's Klasse Kriminale. Originally formed in 1985 the band stayed together for over 20 years before splitting. I believe they had some reunions. Not sure if they're still active.

One Way System - Singles Collection

Ok, I present another judgement call today. One Way System is usually referred to as a 'Street Punk' band. Now, is Street Punk a sub-genre of Oi!, or just another way to refer to Oi!? What's it matter, this is a damn good collection from a damn good band!

Infa-Riot - Still Out Of Order

Full disclosure, I never owned any Infa-Riot stuff and therefore never listened to much. Pity. Because in my opinion this is everything Oi! is about.Damn fine release, originally from 1982. However this is the re-release with a few extra tracks.

Partisans - Self-Titled

The Partisans were a group of teenagers from Wales. They didn't release too much in their short original run, but this is a good first full length. From 1983.

Sham 69 - The Adventures Of The Hersham Boys

Another historic English band today, with another classic release. This baby came out in 1979 and is chock full of great stuff.

Slaughter & The Dogs - Cranked Up Really High

Now this is grade A street punk, here. The great Slaughter & The Dogs started way back in the mid 70's. This collection, released in 1995, is a fine sampling of hits.

The Adicts - Songs Of Praise

The problem with genres, and sub-genres, is that lines start getting blurred. Take the Adicts for example. Are they Oi!, or just good old fashioned UK punk? Whatever the answer, here's their great full length debut from 1981.

Blitz - Voice Of A Generation - The No Future Years

And this month we have... Oi!gust!! I've been waiting months to say that. So, when I think Oi! the first band that comes to my mind is Blitz. Powerful punk straight from the streets of England. This 2 Disc collection covers their earliest years, which saw some all time classic releases. And then 1983 happened. Blitz inexplicably turned to a New Wave sound. Still a must-have release.
